Can you explain the spirit of east to us ?
The spirit of east is different and daring: precisely the features that make the east a top address, with a stunningly designed restaurant that defines itself by its charisma and culinary delights. The east is famed for its innovative design by Jordan Mozer, who managed to mix Far Eastern charm with Western industrial history to create a cross-cultural space. Or put more simply: Asia meets brick stone and its guests are just as colourful: men and women ages 20 to 60 in jeans or in suits; German students next to American business people, accompanied by chill-out sounds and soft electro-pop. A celebrity or two may also be sighted in the Yakshi Bar or in the Bacardi Lounge, while a conference may be taking place in the private cinema.

How did you find your way to east?
After years of working for the most famous energy drink in the world, the time came for new challenges. At this time, east had the idea for something new in Hamburg, and I knew the owner from years back. The idea was to mix the concept with new ideas and cultural concepts. So we created a new department named “east culture”, for which we organise events like live concerts, art exhibitions, book readings, movie nights, live paintings in the restaurant and a lot more culture events. Then I changed from being a guest and business partner to an employee of the east Group. I like to be creative and free in my business. To be open minded is important to my business and my personality.

What is your favourite spot at east? Any secret tips?
My favourite spot are two spots! One is the “east Restaurant”. The Asian food is amazing and the location is a mix of design and industry. It’s a nice place to have dinner with friends. The second spot is “Heaven’s Nest”. The rooftop is amazing when the sun is shining. Very good drinks and the best view of Hamburg. Before you start sipping some “sun downers” you can enjoy dinner in the adjacent restaurant “clouds”. The secret tip is secret but I am sure that you’ll find your own personal secret in the “east cosmos”.
